FAQs
How does it work?
I’ll arrive an hour before your ceremony to set up and begin painting the background.
I’ll then snap a candid photo of you and your partner during the ceremony which will be used as a reference for the painting. Alternatively, I can take a posed photo during the post-ceremony photo session. I can even attend the First Look if you’d prefer to capture that moment in a painting! I’m very flexible, just let me know what location you’d prefer to be painted in.
Once the reference photo is taken, I’ll set up in a suitable location for your guests to see the painting process. I am able to move between locations during the night (eg: canapes and reception). I travel between church and reception at no extra cost.
I won’t be able to complete the entire painting on the night but will have finished the most important parts (bride & groom, dress, flowers, etc). Towards the end of the night I will reveal the progress of the painting to you and your partner, allowing your photographer to capture the moment.
Do you need anything from us on the wedding day?
Not at all! I’m completely self-sufficient, so you can focus on enjoying your day. The only time I may need a moment with you is if you’d like a specific pose captured - in that case, I’ll happily do a quick mini-photoshoot with you and your partner after the ceremony.
I’ll also coordinate directly with your venue staff to find the best spot to set up, so you won’t need to worry about a thing. And don’t stress about meals - I’ll bring my own!
What happens before the wedding?
Once you have made a booking and paid a deposit, I’ll set up a pre-wedding consultation (in person or over Zoom/Meets) where we will discuss your requirements for the big day. We’ll go over the location/posing/specifics of the painting, as well as the logistics of the venue. I am always happy to cater to your vision as I strive to give you your dream painting.
Two weeks before the wedding I will contact you to confirm the venue and collect the final payment.
Do you do any work on the painting after the wedding day?
Yes, I spend the following week in the studio adding the finishing touches and bringing the painting to a state of completion.
How long until I get the finished painting?
Allow around 2 months to receive the final product. This includes drying time for the oil paints (usually 3 weeks), extra studio time (1-2 weeks), framing time (1-3 weeks) and postage time (1 week).
Can you paint extra guests?
I can paint extra guests at an additional cost. I can also paint relatives that have passed away (this can be done as a surprise to the bride/groom), I just need a good quality photo of them!
Where do you travel to?
I service Sydney, Canberra, the Illawarra, the Southern Highlands and the South Coast. If your wedding is outside of these areas I charge an additional cost for travel and accommodation.
I have other questions.
Please get in touch! I’m flexible and I’ll always do my best to accommodate your needs.
